William Mahone
Board Chair

William Mahone is a Managing Director of Berkley Capital, LLC, the private equity investment group of W.R. Berkley Corporation. Mr. Mahone has been actively engaged in the private equity business since 1988, when he left Willkie Farr & Gallagher to become Vice President and General Counsel of Interlaken Capital, Inc. Mr. Mahone became a Managing Director of Berkley Capital upon its formation in 2002.

Mr. Mahone also serves on the Board of Directors of Spectrum Corona Energy LLC, FSV Payment Systems, Inc., Technology Investment Partners LLC and FEF Cash, Inc. He was an organizer of The Greenwich Bank & Trust Company, and a director from 1998 to 2003.

Mr. Mahone is a graduate of Stanford University and Harvard Law School.


Robert Chartener
Board Member

Robert Chartener is a managing partner of JHW Greentree Capital, a Small Business Investment Company organized by J.H. Whitney & Co. to invest in smaller buyouts and growth businesses. Founded in 1946, J.H. Whitney & Co. is an alternative assets investment firm with over $4 billion under management.

Prior to joining Whitney, Mr. Chartener was a co-founding partner of Winslow Partners LLC, a private-equity firm investing primarily in Central Europe. From 1985 to 1995, Mr. Chartener worked for Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he was a senior member of the firm’s Principal Investing Area. Mr. Chartener serves as a director of several companies, including Eastern Mountain Sports, Inc. and Foundation Source Philanthropic Services Inc. His nonprofit activities include serving as a trustee and vice president of the board of Cardigan Mountain School and as founding chairman of Magdalene in America. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Mr. Chartener earned degrees from Princeton University and Magdalene College, Cambridge University. He is also a graduate of Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar.


Frank Medici
Board Member

Frank Medici is President of Berkley Capital, LLC, an investment management subsidiary of W.R. Berkley Corporation, a Fortune 500 company, responsible for the corporation’s private equity investments.

Mr. Medici has extensive investment experience, having served most recently as a Managing Director in the Financial Institutions Group, Investment Banking, at Morgan Stanley & Co. Previously he was an attorney specializing in corporate law with the firm of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae, LLC. In addition to Foundation Source, he serves on the board of directors for HealthEquity Inc., FSV Payment Systems Inc., and American Home Partners Inc. and sits on the board of Trustees of Dominican College.

Mr. Medici holds joint degrees from Fordham University (J.D. and M.B.A) and in a joint program earned degrees from the University of Connecticut and Fairfield University (B.S. and B.A), respectively.


Bradford R. Orben
Board Member

Bradford R. Orben has been Executive Director of Finance and Family Office for Building and Land Technology for the past nine years. Building and Land Technology is a second-generation real estate development company based in Connecticut. Mr. Orben is responsible for overseeing all aspects of BLT’s finances, including managing the overall investment portfolios for the firm and the Kuehner family.

Prior to joining BLT, Mr. Orben was Senior Vice President of Bank of New York Mellon’s Private Client Investment Services division. He also served as National Sales Manager of The Dreyfus Corporation, which was a subsidiary of Mellon Financial. Prior to that, Mr. Orben spent six years with Quick and Reilly as a branch manager and financial consultant.

Mr. Orben is a graduate of Dickinson College with a Bachelors Degree in Economics with a concentration in Financial and Business Analysis. He serves as Chairman of the Investment Committee for St. Vincent’s Medical Center Foundation and is on the Board of Directors for St. Vincent’s Medical Center Foundation. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Family Office Association as well as the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church Finance Board. He served on the Wakeman Boys and Girls Club Board for the Southport Unit. Brad serves on the Northeast Advisory Board for Hope for Haiti.
