Robert Chartener

Robert Chartener is a managing partner of JHW Greentree Capital, a Small Business Investment Company organized by J.H. Whitney & Co. to invest in smaller buyouts and growth businesses. Founded in 1946, J.H. Whitney & Co. is an alternative assets investment firm with over $4 billion under management.
Prior to joining Whitney, Mr. Chartener was a co-founding partner of Winslow Partners LLC, a private-equity firm investing primarily in Central Europe. From 1985 to 1995, Mr. Chartener worked for Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he was a senior member of the firm's Principal Investing Area.
Mr. Chartener serves as a director of several companies, including Eastern Mountain Sports, Inc. and Foundation Source Philanthropic Services Inc. His non-profit activities include serving as a trustee and vice president of the board of Cardigan Mountain School and as founding chairman of Magdalene in America. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Mr. Chartener earned degrees from Princeton University and Magdalene College, Cambridge University. He is also a graduate of Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar.
