“Why Art is Different: The Life-Cycle of Art Ownership”

The designation as an “asset class” has made it an increasingly important issue in estate planning.  As with any other asset, one needs to understand art’s unique characteristics and risks in order to use it effectively in the consideration of a client’s estate plans. This presentation will focus on the process of buying, owning and disposing of works of art, how to protect your client from the risks that are inherent in that process, and the issues you should keep in mind when your client’s wealth includes an art collection.

Following the meeting, there will be a full cocktail reception, and the ability for our members and their guests to stroll through the galleries of the Barnes. We sincerely hope you will be able to join us.   Spouses, guests and clients are welcome to attend the cocktail reception with gallery access starting at 7:00 p.m. at a reduced cost of $50 per person.
