Your corporate foundation board likely consists of senior leaders drawn from different areas of the company, whether small groups of executives, larger local committees, or some combination of both. But no matter what their business background or length of tenure at the company, they’re probably not prepared to dive into their work on the foundation. Philanthropy has its own set of rules, and even seasoned executives may need some time to get up to speed. That’s why board training should begin as soon as they are elected to serve.
